Safety is paramount when it comes to travel

Navigating unfamiliar destinations can pose unique challenges, that’s why we have implemented a suite of safety measures to give our travelers peace of mind as they explore the world.

Co-share with family & friends

Your travels, your maps. That’s why we do not have any restrictions to you giving access to family and friends or co-share your account. If they have their own free WanderGuide accounts, you can DM one another just like any messaging app.

How we can help

Real-Time Location Tracking
Our mapping and trip planning features are customized for every user, so this means you can opt-in to location tracking for safety and updates to family and friends. Through the mobile app’s GPS integration, the platform can monitor the user’s movements and provide alerts.
 
Automated Check-In and Welfare Monitoring
Automated check-ins, where the app prompts users to confirm their well-being at regular intervals. If a user misses a check-in, the support team is notified and can proactively reach out to ensure the user’s safety.
 
Detailed Destination Profiles
All travel profiles have access to their own WanderGuide travel specialist to get comprehensive destination profiles. These profiles provide up-to-date information on local safety conditions, travel advisories, and potential risks, allowing users to make informed decisions and prepare accordingly.
 
Travel Insurance and Medical Assistance
If you already have medical and travel insurance, you can record this in your profile for any emergency assistance, if necessary. 
 
Community-Driven Safety Alerts
Crowdsourced real-time safety alerts and warnings are available by tapping into the collective experiences of our community. Report any incidents or hazards you’ve encountered, which are then shared via app notifications to help others avoid potential dangers.

How it works

1. Define Timelines and Opt-in to Location Tracking 
Leveraging the user’s location data and trip planning tools, we can facilitate the sending of automated updates to pre-designated contacts. For example, when a user checks into a new destination or reaches a significant milestone on their itinerary, the platform can prompt them to send a short message, photo, or video to their family and friends. Profiles also feature blogs that you can update in private or shared publicly. 
 
These location-based updates can include details about your current activities, impressions of the local culture, or simply a friendly “wish you were here” sentiment. Recipients can then follow along in real-time. 
 
(Coming soon) Our mobile apps will feature voice message functions that are linked to Notion workspaces, so you can record anything, anytime, and it’s dated, time tracked and transcribed automatically onto a Notion page, which you can then turn into a travel blog. 
 
2. Special Assistance 
Traveling alone? Our travel specialists can automatically send updates and opt-in location status to your family and friends, according to your instructions and plans. 
 
3. Automated Updates to Family and Friends 
If you’re worried about forgetting to send updates, we an do this for you! These safety measures are put in place to make it easier for you to stay in touch without disrupting your trip. 
 
4. When You Opt-out of Location Tracking
Your privacy matters. Every profile is supported by your own WanderGuide travel specialist, so if you would like us to send you reminders about any trip details, we are here for you. You can check-in with us when you reach certain destinations or part of your route.Â
